Guillermo Martínez (Madrid, 1979) holds a PhD in Health Sciences. He completed a MA in History, MSc in Telemedicine, and a BSc in Nursing & Podiatry. In 2009, he quit clinical work and travelled to Uganda where he conducted his first ever research project in Africa. Since then, he’s alternated between managerial, education and research positions in The Gambia, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Malawi, Mozambique, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Africa, and Zimbabwe. Nutrició Sense Fronteres, UNAIDS, ISGlobal, Médecins sans Frontières and The University of Saragossa are among the institutions he’s worked with. His areas of expertise include eHealth; health economics; HIV/STD-prevention and self-diagnostics technologies; sex and gender research on/with vulnerable key populations, and traditional genital modifications. Guillermo is the President of AfWORO.

Anna Rosés i Belló (Barcelona, 1982) completed a Degree in Law, and a Postgraduate Degree in Global Development. She has held various fieldwork positions in Mozambique for the Fundació Clínic per la Reserca Biomèdica, the NGO ActionAid Mozambique, and the Consejo Interhospitalario de Cooperación (CIC). In 2012 she returned to Barcelona to pursue her work in the translation of health research findings to policy and programmes. Since 2017, Anna is especially interested in human rights; the internally displaced, asylum-seekers and refugees; and in the empowerment of women. Anna is AfWORO’s Secretary.

Emmanuel Fajardo (Bogotá, 1978) holds a BSc degree in Microbiology and Laboratory Science and a MSc in Epidemiology. He joined Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) in 2005 as a Laboratory Officer working in several countries in Africa and Central Asia. From 2008 to 2015 he worked as an HIV/TB Laboratory Advisor for the Southern African region. His work particularly focused on the implementation of simplified HIV/TB diagnostics. As of November 2016, he joined MSF’s Access Campaign as HIV/HCV Diagnostic Advisor, where he provided support for access and advocacy issues around diagnostics. Emmanuel’s areas of research expertise include laboratory and field evaluations of diagnostics as well as implementation research. Emmanuel is AfWORO’s Treasurer.
